The Kansas City Junior Tennis League (KCJTL) provides match play for beginning and novice tennis players in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The league’s definition of a novice player is one that has just begun to play competitive tennis. Players who have played tennis for a few years are also eligible for KCJTL assuming they have not moved too far into tournament competition. Exact guidelines on eligibility can be found in the KCJTL Rules and Information Manual. Players must be a member of a KCJTL member club/organization and represent their club during league play. JTL interclub matches are scheduled weekly during the summer for children ages 18 and under. The concept of the scheduled interclub matches is a team competition - one club’s team competing against another club. At the conclusion of six weeks of league play, there is an optional singles and doubles tournament for any player who played during the JTL season. Standings are maintained over the season and a large club and small club champion is crowned at the end of the summer season.
JTL Ladder matches are also scheduled at each club. The position the players hold on their club's ladder each week determines who will play in the interclub matches and whether they play singles or doubles. Each club or facility has their own rules regarding ladder positioning. Contact your pro for more information.
